Blessed are the Barren, by Charles Donovan and Robert Marshall, is the most thorough treatise on the history of the birth control movement. Because the book was written in 1991 and has not been updated yet, some of the information is out-of-date.

Defending the Family is a collection of essays by various professors and social scientists. It is published by the Society of Catholic Social Scientists. The essays cover topics from feminism, sexual morality, homosexuality, childrearing and more. The Facts of Life The Facts of Life, by Brian Clowes, PhD, is a resource book presented in a user-friendly question and answer format. This book addresses the issues of birth control, abortion and euthanasia
War against Population
War against Population, by Jacqueline Kasun, serves to debunk the overpopulation myth by presenting statistics, economic concerns and the history of the overpopulation myth. This book is thoroughly researched and is a great tool for research papers and personal study.
Love and Responsibility
Love and Responsibility, by Karol Wojtyla, is a philosophical treatise on human sexuality in light of the teachings of the Catholic Church. Originally written in 1960, this book help to mark Wojtyla, who later became Pope John Paul II, as a great thinker on human sexuality and its role in family life, psychology and sociology.
Theology of the Body
The Theology of the Body is the next great work by Pope John Paul II. It is a series of talks given at his Wednesday audiences from 1979-1984. This book is a very difficult philosophical and theological work. The entire text of three Catholic Church documents is also in the book: "Humanae Vitae: Of Human Life;" "On the Dignity and Vocation of Women;" "Evangelium Vitae: The Gospel of Life."
Good News about Sex and Marriage
Good News about Sex and Marriage, by Christopher West, is a practical guide for engaged and married couples on chastity before and within marriage. This book is based on the The Theology of the Body as are all of Christopher West's works.
Conjugal Act as a Personal Act
Conjugal Act as a Personal Act, by Donald Asci, gives a hopeful and joyful view of human sexuality in light of marriage and love. The first part of this book is a thorough commentary on the major documents of the Catholic Church on human sexuality.
Why Humanae Vitae was Right
Why Humanae Vitae was Right, is a collection of essays edited by Janet Smith. The book also includes her translation of the 1968 document Humanae Vitae. These essays analyze the predictions given Humanae Vitae and show how most have come to fruition, for better or worse.
Open Embrace
Open Embrace, written by Protestant couple Sam and Bethany Torode, is a sound biblical analysis of the role of the marital embrace in light of God's plan for family life. This is a short book and a quick yet powerful read. This is an especially important tool for fighting the claim that the Bible does not speak about birth control.
Sterilization Reversal
Sterilization Reversal is a collection of powerful testimonies of twenty couples who endured surgical sterilization and saw this act lead to the demise of their marital life. Each couple sought sterilization reversal and afterwards experienced more peace and joy in marriage, as well as more children!

Does the Birth Control Pill cause Abortions?, by Randy Alcorn, is a compilation of research on the chemical and physical effect of contraception on a newly fertilized human being. The abortion causing effect of chemical contraceptives is called the abortifacient effect.
A Mother's Ordeal
A Mother's Ordeal, by Steven Mosher, is a first hand account of a young Chinese woman who gets married right at the start of the forced one-child policy. She is a government employed nurse who is forced to implement the policy on hundreds of women and eventually becomes a victim of the policy herself when pregnant with her second child.
Birthing God's Mighty Warriors
Birthing God's Mighty Warriors, by Rachel Scott gives a biblical argument against birth control.
The Art of Natural Family Planning

The Contraception of Grief
The Contraception of Grief, by Dr. Theresa Burke, was inspired by the testimony of Janet Morana, the co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign. Janet's testimony is one of the first public testimonies of the devastation wrought by long-term use of chemical contraceptives, primarily because of their abortifacient effect.

Gaudium et Spes
Gaudium et Spes is a constitution of the Second Vatican Council.  The document was published in 1965.  Pay special attention to Part I- Chapter I (paragraphs 12-22) and Part II- Chapter I (paragraphs 47-52). 
 
Donum Vitae
Donum Vitae, by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, was given in 1987 by the Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith, and the document explains in detail the illicitness of artificial forms of procreation such as in-vitro fertilization and cloning.  This document is presented in a user-friendly question and answer format. 
Casti Connubii
Casti Connubii
, by Pope Pius XI, specifically called for the renewal of marriage.  Part of that renewal is the open acceptance of children.  Procreation must not be seen as an unwanted side effect, but every conjugal union must be open to procreation, even when it is not likely, or abuse has happened. 
Humanae Vitae
Humanae Vitae, by Pope Paul VI, is frequently called a landmark document of the Catholic Church.  It was given in the midst of the Second Vatican Council and the midst of the sexual revolution.  In lieu of making a statement legitimizing the use of contraception as many within and outside of the Catholic Church had hoped and expected, Pope Paul VI gave a well-reasoned argument against its use.  This document was also the key in the development of the modern Natural Family Planning movement.  
The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality
The Truth and Meaning of Human Sexuality, by the Pontifical Council for the Family, is a helpful guideline for parents concerning education on human sexuality.  Please read more information about this document in our action items- click [here]
Persona Humana
Persona Humana, by the Sacred Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, addresses specific questions about abuses to human sexuality such as masturbation, homosexuality and fornication,   Specific instructions are given concerning the avoidance of these sins,  as well as pastoral recommendations. 

Evangelium Vitae: The Gospel of Life

Evangelium Vitae, written in 1995 by Pope John Paul II, is the landmark document of the late Pope John Paul II where he gave us the term "contraceptive mentality."  Pay special attention to paragraph 13.  This document also addresses many other offenses against life and family such as abortion, divorce, the death penalty and more.
